BE, 2025

I OFTEN FIND MYSELF CAUGHT IN THE TRAP OF FORMALISM—THE NEED TO TITLE, SYSTEMISE, AND STRUCTURE MY THINKING. IT STEMS FROM AN INSECURITY, A DESIRE TO BE SEEN AS SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY’RE DOING. AS I CHART A COURSE FORWARD, I REALISE THAT THIS NEED TO FORMALISE IS LESS ABOUT CLARITY AND MORE ABOUT SEEKING VALIDATION.

THE TRUTH IS, I’VE ALREADY CREATED A TOOL IN CODE-SWITCH® THAT ENABLES ME TO NAVIGATE THE UNKNOWN. BUT THE UNKNOWN IS, BY DEFINITION, UNPREDICTABLE. IT IS A VARIABLE THAT DEFIES SYSTEMISATION, A SPACE THAT REQUIRES ME TO ADMIT I DON’T HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS.

MY CHALLENGE IS NOT THE LACK OF A SYSTEM BUT THE LACK OF CONFIDENCE TO VENTURE INTO THIS TERRITORY PUBLICLY. TO SAY “I DON’T KNOW WHAT LIES AHEAD” AND STILL PROCEED IS A LEAP THAT DEMANDS MORE THAN STRUCTURE; IT DEMANDS TRUST IN THE PROCESS.

CODE-SWITCH® IS NOT A SOLUTION BUT A TOOL, A MEANS OF ENGAGING WITH THIS UNCERTAINTY. MY TASK NOW IS TO EMBRACE THE UNKNOWN NOT JUST IN THEORY BUT IN PRACTICE—TO BE PRESENT, TO EXPLORE, AND TO TRUST THAT NOT KNOWING IS A BEGINNING, NOT A FAILURE.
