I’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT HOW TO DEFINE AND DISTILL CONCEPTS WITHIN MY PROJECTS, AND CERTAIN KEY MARKERS HAVE EMERGED AS ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS OF THIS PROCESS. THESE INCLUDE:

THE DISCIPLINES INVOLVED, AS OUTLINED BY THE AMF-PFA FRAMEWORK.

THE STUDIO UNDERTAKING THE PROJECT.

THE TYPE OF EXPLORATION THE PROJECT ADDRESSES.

THE KIND OF EXPERIMENT BEING PURSUED.

THESE MARKERS PROVIDE A FOUNDATION FOR STRUCTURING AND COMMUNICATING EACH PROJECT. HOWEVER, I’VE BEEN QUESTIONING WHETHER THESE ELEMENTS SHOULD BE APPROACHED IN A SPECIFIC SEQUENCE. WHILE A SEQUENTIAL PROCESS SEEMS INTUITIVE, IT OFTEN DEPENDS ON THE PROJECT’S POINT OF CONCEPTION. SOMETIMES A PROJECT BEGINS WITH A FOCUS ON DISCIPLINES, WHILE IN OTHER CASES, IT STARTS WITH AN IDEA FOR AN EXPERIMENT OR A STUDIO INITIATIVE.

RATHER THAN STRICTLY FOLLOWING A SET ORDER, I BELIEVE THE GOAL SHOULD BE TO FULFIL ALL MARKERS BY THE END OF THE PROCESS. THIS APPROACH ENSURES THAT THE EXPLORATION IS BOTH FLEXIBLE AND ROBUST, ALLOWING IDEAS TO DEVELOP ORGANICALLY WHILE REMAINING GROUNDED IN A CLEAR AND COHESIVE FRAMEWORK.
