I HAVE ALWAYS SEEN MYSELF AS A MULTIFACETED INDIVIDUAL, WORKING TO CONSOLIDATE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES INTO A WHOLE. THIS DIVERSITY ALLOWS ME TO EXPLORE VARIED VIEWPOINTS AND ENGAGE WITH PEOPLE IN MEANINGFUL WAYS. YET, THE MORE I REFLECT ON THIS, THE MORE I REALISE HOW CONSTRAINED I AM BY SOCIETAL EXPECTATIONS TO PRESENT A FIXED, UNCHANGING CHARACTER.
WHEN I DEVIATE FROM THIS EXPECTED ROLE—WHETHER BY EMBRACING A NEW IDEA OR EXPLORING A DIFFERENT ASPECT OF MYSELF—IT IS OFTEN PERCEIVED AS PERSONAL CONFUSION RATHER THAN GROWTH. IN THE EYES OF OTHERS, FLUIDITY CAN SEEM LIKE INCONSISTENCY, EVEN THOUGH I SEE IT AS A NATURAL REFLECTION OF MY COMPLEXITY.
THIS CREATES A STRUGGLE: HOW TO REMAIN TRUE TO THE MULTITUDE OF PERSPECTIVES I CARRY WHILE NAVIGATING A WORLD THAT PREFERS SIMPLICITY AND STABILITY IN IDENTITY.
